Ingredients: (Makes around 30 cookies)
1 cup all-purpose flour (maida),
1/2 cup butter; firm but at room temperature,
1/2 cup confectioners’ sugar or white sugar,
1/2 tsp vanilla extract or essence,
A pinch of salt,
1/2 tsp baking powder,
Sliced almonds.
Method:
Preheat the oven to 160C for 10 minutes. Cream the butter for 5 minutes with a blender, add sugar and again blend till it is fluffy. Add the vanilla extract to it and mix well. Now sift together flour, salt and baking powder and slowly add to the butter mixture, stirring until well mixed and knead into a soft dough. Take small portion of dough each time and shape into small balls. Grease cookie sheets and place these balls on them, leaving around 2 inches space in between each cookie. Place almond slices on each cookie and bake at 160C for 15 minutes or until the cookies are lightly brown.
